 Adult Free Clinic
Good Shepherd is part sponsor for the Adult Free Clinic, established to provide medical care to working families unable to have medical insurance.  Doctors donate their time and skill.  Nursing, reception, and other jobs are also volunteer.  Supplies have been donated from several sources.  The building was renovated by willing volunteers.  This whole ministry demonstrates God's love and care for His people.

Talk to any of the clergy for more information about how you can help.

 Church under the Bridge
When it's Good Shepherd's turn, usually three Sundays from May to October, we provide a church service and a generous meal for needy people in downtown Lexington.  Meals are served at Mission House on 3rd and Martin Luther King, our Episcopal Diocese headquarters.  Those interested in helping with the food preparation are welcome to help on the Thursday or Friday or Saturday prior to our date.  Wear a hat and come to serve at 3:00.  There is always someone to answer your questions in the Loggia the weeks prior to "our" Sunday.  Monetary donations are always welcome.  Specific food donations are often requested, and many desserts are always needed.

Call the parish office or any of the clergy for more information.

 Cross Quilts Ministry
On Tuesday mornings, ladies meet in a home to make quilts for needy people.  Those with or without quilting skills are welcome as there are many jobs to be done for even one quilt.  We'll be glad to teach you!  Quilts are given to to newly baptized children in our parish, but moreso to needy people outside our parish.  Come and sew, work at home, or donate material that can be used for quilts.

Call the parish office for more information.

 Reading Camp
Reading Camp is a project of the Diocese of Lexington.  This ministry hosts several week long camps during the summer to help below average readers improve.  Two of the camps are overnight camps; the rest are day camps.  Both offer interesting, dynamic reading lessons in the mornings and then all of the usual camp activities in the afternoons and evenings.  All camps use volunteers for the teaching and support staff.

 Refuge, Inc.
This ministry maintains a Good Shepherd-owned home in Lexington and aids a needy refugee family who lives there for a time until they can settle more permanently.  Help is always needed at times of transition, when one family moves out and before another moves in.

Call the parish office or talk to any of the clergy to see how you can help.

 Room in the Inn
During the cold months, October through March, Good Shepherd takes turns with other churches in the area to house and feed homeless men.  We host on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month.  Our guests arrive for a dinner prepared at the church, are given sleeping accommodations, a hot breakfast and a bag lunch.  It takes many of us in the parish to prepare and present this program.  If you are interested in participating - setting up, preparing food, serving, sitting with our guests as hosts, staying overnight, doing laundry - you are welcome to come and be a part of this ministry.

Call the parish office or talk to the clergy about how you can help.
