Vestry

Good Shepherd Vestry members are an elected group of parishioners who, with the Rector, guide and direct the church. Members serve three-year terms and act as the governing board for the administrative functioning of the church.

Lucy Cramer Cox

Occupation: Teacher at Good Shepherd Day School

Parish experience: Lifelong Good Shepherd member. Former Sunday School teacher; Altar Flower Delivery team; Food Ministry team; greeter; lay reader; former Vestry member. Served/serving on these Committees: Outreach, Parish Life/Family Activities, Rector and Bishop Search, Capital Campaign, Stewardship, Rector Retirement, Stained Glass Window Restoration, Future Planning, and Gala.

Diocesan experience: Former Girls' Camp director at Cathedral Domain for 14 years, Director of Reading Camps at Mission House in Lexington, Cathedral Domain and Pine Mountain Settlement School in Harlan County. Served on Happening and New Beginnings staffs at Cathedral Domain.


Sarah Leer


Occupation: Middle School Administrative Assistant at Sayre School; Wedding Planner

Parish experience: Good Shepherd member for 21 years, presently serving on Worship Committee, Wedding Committee, Chair of Flower Guild, member of the Parish Choir, Lector, Room in the Inn, Choir Guild. Former Vestry member and Junior Warden.

Education: BA Education, University of Kentucky.


Winn Stephens


Occupation: Director of Development for the Bluegrass Chapter of the American Red Cross

Parish experience:  Good Shepherd member for seven years. Previous Vestry member (2004 ñ 2007), Senior Warden (2007); Stewardship Committee, 2008 ñ 2010; Chair of Stewardship Committee, 2010; Deputy to Diocesan Convention, 2010; Greeter, 2004 ñ present; Eucharistic minister, 2006 ñ 2009; Christian Formation Teacher, 2004 ñ 2007; Room in the Inn Volunteer, 2006 ñ 2009; Lutheran Episcopal Campus Ministry board member, 2006 ñ 2009; accompanied youth on pilgrimage to Greece, 2008.

Martin Woodford


Occupation: Retired Construction Engineer

Born and educated in England; moved to Kentucky in 1978 to open an office for an international construction group.

Parish experience: I have been a member of and attended Good Shepherd continuously since 1978. I am the senior Verger of the church and conduct the church tours as required for newcomers and members of the parish. I perform various maintenance functions within the church. My wife and I were founder members of Good Shepherdís involvement with Habitat for Humanity. Recently a teacher of the J2A youth.
 
Education: English Construction Degree and an internationally recognized professional qualification with The Chartered Institute of Builders.


Sarah Charles Wright


Occupation: Partner at Sturgill, Turner, Barker & Moloney, PLLC

Parish experience: Good Shepherd member for 14 years. Active in Parish Choir. Former vestry member. Former Discernment Committee member.


Class of 2012

Chuck Goodpaster


Employed at Toyota Motor Manufacturing for 13 years.

Parish: Attended Good Shepherd for 3 years, Confirmed May 2008. Active in Church Under the Bridge, supper groups, Godly Play ages 3 and 4, Be the Church, and wood cleaning and maintenance.

Civic: I enjoy working with wood, particularly carving duck decoys.  I spend my time with my family, reading or working in my workshop. During spring and fall baseball season I coach T-ball at Northern Cal Ripken.   

Education: Graduate of Tates Creek High School. Attended Lexington Community College and Eastern Kentucky University
with study in Industrial Engineering.


Anne Helmers


Husband David Helmers

Parish: Member since 2003.

Civic: Active in Sayre School Parents Association, Room Mom, Unity in Education Lecture Series, Lexington Humane Society Foster Program, Board Member Kentucky Association for Education of Young Children (2000-2007).

Education: Bachelor of Arts, Rollins College, Florida; MS, University of Kentucky Family Studies, Early Childhood Education.


Graeme Lang

Chief Fixed Wing Pilot for the Commonwealth of Kentucky

Parish: Good Shepherd member since 2003. Former member of Christ Church, Alexandria, Virginia.

Civic: Wings over Washington (gifts flown to underprivileged children), annual giver to the Woodford Humane Society.

Education: BA Finance, Transylvania University.


Elizabeth Leppman - Clerk of the Vestry


Faculty, Walden University; Writer/map and book editor.
 
Parish: Good Shepherd member for four years. Active in supper groups, lay reader, lay Eucharistic minister, Stewardship Committee, Worship Committee, Hispanic Ministries Task Force, Diocesan Companion Diocese Committee. Vestry member at previous parish.

Civic: Family Nurturer for Habitat for Humani-ty, volunteer intake and clerical worker for Mission Lexington Clinic, volunteer for Ken-tucky Historical Society, member Chamber of Commerce and Independent Small Business Owners, member Shape Note (Sacred Harp) Singers.

Jon Linder


Employed at Ecogro doing stream restoration projects in Kentucky and Tennessee.

Parish: Good Shepherd member for 18 months. Active in supper groups, menís group, and Church Under the Bridge.

Education: Masterís Degree in Counseling, University of South Carolina; Masterís Degree in Pastoral Counseling, Emory University; Bachelorís Degree in Biology, University of South Carolina.

Guy Huguelet - Junior Warden


Former owner of Adecco of Central Kentucky
Currently working to launch a new human resource company specializing in the health care industry. 

Parish: Lifelong member of Good Shepherd. Former Vestry member (2002-2005). Previously served on the Personnel Committee, Outreach Committee, Parish Life Committee and Future Com-mittee. Former Christian Formation teacher and Wednesday night dinner coordinator.

Civic: Commerce Lexington Board of Directors and its   executive committee as Immediate Past Chairman; board member of Strides Ahead, One Team One Vision Committee and the executive committee of the Economic Development group; Lexington Industrial Foundation; Shepherdís House Inc. of Kentucky; Morton Center of Kentucky; and Fellowship of Christian Athletes of Central Kentucky.

Education:  Attended The Bolles School, Jacksonville; Florida; Henry Clay High School; and the University of Kentucky.

Parish: Good Shepherd member for 2 years. Active in supper groups and menís group, assisted with The Event. In previous parishes, served on vestry, chaired the finance committee and member of stewardship committee.

Civic: Active Sigma Alpha Epsilon alum and Hartland Home-owners Association. Previously served on board of directors of Big Brothers-Big Sisters, Jacksonville, Illinois; Facilitator for Junior Achievement companies in Alton, Illinois; Campus Radio board member, Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Kathy Gross - Senior Warden

Parish: Good Shepherd member for 30 years. Serves as director of Altar Guild, Eucharistic Minister, Stewardship Committee and Society of the Good Shepherd member. Involved in Book Club and Room in the Inn. Served a previous vestry term.

Civic: Baby Health Service board member; Friends of the Arboretum Nominating Committee Chair and past board member; The Lexington School board member 1995-2004 and president 2002-2004; Pisgah Community Historic District Board 1998-2007; Fayette County Master Gardeners.

Chuck Beal


General Counsel at Scott-Gross Co. Inc., since 2005.
Private practice of law with McCoy, West, Franklin & Beal from 1990 to 2005.

Parish:  Good Shepherd member for 10 years. Member of the Outreach Committee and officer of Refuge, Inc., since its formation in 2000.

Civic: Current member of Kentucky Bar Association, Fayette County Bar Association, and company representative to Commerce Lexington.  Board Member, Family Counseling Service, 2002-2003.

Education: Bachelor of Arts, Economics and Political Science, The University of the South, Sewanee, TN 1985. JD, University of Kentucky College of Law 1989.


Jack Brown


Occupation: Independent Insurance Agent

Parish experience: Good Shepherd member for 14 years. Previous Vestry member and was Junior Warden under three different Senior Wardens. Recently served on Rector Retirement Committee; my wife and I were active in the Troop Troopers (care packages to members in the military); and I enjoy cooking for various church functions.

Education: Master's Degree in Biology and Physical Education.
