Marcus Borg: Embracing an Adult Faith

Meets in Undercroft: Class starts at 6P, join us at 5:30 for a light meal.

Will not meet as a group after Memorial Day through Labor Day.  Everyone is invited to the worship service of Morning Prayer, Rite II.

 

 

Thursday Morning Women’s Bible Study

Meets in the Library

Scripture is studied by reading texts aloud and considering the impact on those who first heard the words, as well as the impact of those same words on our lives today. Anyone may join at any time for one or more sessions.  This ends the Thursday before Memorial Day and starts up after Labor Day.Starting in September 2011, we will be studying Ecclesiastes.

 

Women's bible Study

Any women are welcome to join us for this hour long discussion class.  Please bring a Bible, a limited number of classroom Bibles are available.  We will be studying Ecclesiastes.  Ecclesiastes in the Old Testament.  The Rev. Lauren Villemuer as well as fellow attendees will lead this class.

 

 

 

Inspirational Book Group
First Thursday of the Month -- 6 :30 P.M.

This book group is open to anyone interested. All books are chosen by attendees and are chosen because they have inspired them or led them to look at life, love or faith differently.On September 1, we will discuss Low Impact Man by Colin Beaven.  Then on September 20, we will have an opportunity to hear Mr. Beaven speak.

 

EfM
Led by Dale Chapman
Mondays -- 6:00 P.M.
Meets in the Library

Education for Ministry, affectionately known as EfM, is a four-year program of theology at the University of the South (Sewanee). Participants meet weekly to study the Old and New Testaments, Church History and Theology; worship together; and engage in theological reflection. Pre-registration and tuition are required.

Holy Women and Holy Men (Feb 5- 19) Led by Joseph Jacobs in Undercroft-Come learn about the Holy Women and Men who have lived their lives as examples to us all.

 

Relationships (Feb 5-Apr 1) Relationship to aging parents, children, family, spouses, church, money, budget, and work.  Different guest speakers lead a learning session  followed by a question and answer session.

Atonement Theology (Feb 26- April 1).  Led by the Rev Dominic Moore in Undercroft.  What does it mean to be saved?  What do we mean by Jesus saves?  How do we answer these questions and more.

 

Relationship & Financial Planning (March 18-April 1)  Led by Henk H. Drenth, MS, CFP in Library.  

As an Economist (Economics, International Finances & Marketing), Henk has been active in the financial and legal industry his entire professional career.He started in France in ’86 as part of a team mainly responsible for the financial accountability in the refurbishment of ancient buildings for the Winter Olympics in Albertville. He retired having advised the president of a major international financial company while running his own consulting agency for over 15 years in Indianapolis. He still advises individuals and companies on a selective basis.In 2003, he moved to the West (Jackson Hole) from where he spent a lot of time in Lexington, KY, due to his interest in horses. His credentials range from being a Certified Financial Planner, Stockbroker, Licensed Insurance agent (Life, Accident & Health), annual graduate from the Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning (Miami School of Law) as well as a graduate from the Renaissance Institute on Charitable Giving.
